Dr. Doric Earle

FOUNDER

 is a Professor of Practice at the SMU Meadows School of the Arts, specifically within the Division of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs (CCPA). His work focuses on social entrepreneurship, community engagement, and urban sustainability. 

Academic and Leadership Roles

  • Director of Nonprofit & Arts Leadership Advisory: He leads advisory efforts for the CCPA division at Meadows.

  • Co-Director of the SMU Impact Lab: He oversees initiatives that blend social innovation with creative and arts-based leadership.

  • Director of SMU-in-London: Dr. Earle manages this international program, which includes coursework in global social impact and arts.

  • Hunt Institute Fellow: He is a collaborator with the Hunt Institute for Engineering & Humanity, focusing on technology-driven solutions for poverty and housing. 

  • And a podcaster and soon the be author of the book, Reinvent Yourself For Good, For Good

Expertise and Community Impact

Dr. Earle transitioned to academia after 30 years in technology consultancy and data analysis. He is deeply involved in local community development through various ventures:

  • Restorative Farms: Co-founder of this award-winning urban farm in South Dallas that addresses food disparities.

  • Dallas Unity Fund LLC: Co-founder of a community-based real estate platform aimed at providing accessible housing.

  • Social Impact Integration: His teaching often utilizes local nonprofits as "engaged learning" opportunities for students to solve real-world challenges. 

  • Dr. Doric Earle’s

     work is uniquely split amongst preparing the next generation of social leaders at SMU, building self-sustaining "AgriSystems" in South Dallas to combat food insecurity and creating innovative solutions to global economic and environmental issues.

    Courses & Academic Leadership

    Dr. Earle specializes in social innovation and international studies, often using his courses to provide students with hands-on consulting experience for nonprofits.

    • Social Entrepreneurship: He typically teaches CCPA 4375: Social Entrepreneurship: Creating a Movement and Innovating Through the Social Good. This course focuses on building for-profit, nonprofit, or hybrid organizations that solve social challenges.

    • International Impact: As a director for SMU Abroad, he leads the SMU-in-London program. In June 2025, his students visited local social impact hubs and analyzed the ethics of financial support in the arts.

    • Engaged Learning: He often leads specialized seminars such as CCPA 3390 (Applied Or. Comm.) and CCPA 5315 (Directed Study in Engaged Learning), where students directly assist organizations like Restorative Farms with strategy and digital content.

    Specific Projects in South Dallas

    Dr. Earle's projects focus on a "three-pronged approach" to community activation: economic development, housing, and agriculture.

    • Restorative Farms

      : This is his most prominent initiative, aimed at transforming South Dallas from a food desert into a hub for agricultural entrepreneurs.

      • Hatcher Station Training Farm

        : Located on a formerly vacant DART lot, this farm serves as a site for training apprentices in urban farming and providing affordable crops to community members.

    • Dallas Unity Fund LLC: He co-founded this community-based real estate platform to create accessible and affordable housing solutions in underserved areas.

    • The District: Dr. Earle has facilitated an entrepreneurial incubator in the Fair Park area to help local residents launch and scale small businesses.

    • Board Leadership: He serves on the boards of several South Dallas nonprofits, including Miles of Freedom (re-entry support) and formerly Board President of Bridge Lacrosse (youth enrichment), Zip Code Connection,Green Careers Dallas, and launched his Social Innovation career with Frazier Revitalization.  

Leo Watts

ENTREPRENEURIAL DIRECTOR 

Leo is Masters student at the University of Andolucia, completing his thesis shortly in international development and human rights. He is based in Sevilla (Seville) Spain and has launched an NGO aggregator site - Cooperatr.com from which we plan to provide support and guidance for a variety of global initiatives driving economic growth and innovation, across all socio-economic and national boundaries, in coordination with Forward Planning.

Leo is formally the public-private development officer for Winrock International. His grasp of international issues of economic and social equity and innovation is profound.

He studied philosophy, psychology, and economics at New York University’s Gallatin School and also holds a B.A. from the Interdisciplinary Studies Program at The University of Texas at Dallas.

Leo is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, and of course English

Aidan Earle

DESIGN AND MARKETING DIRECTOR

Aidan is a Seattle-based graphic designer specializing in digital marketing and creative design. With experience in animation, illustration, and 3D modeling, he brings a versatile and curious approach to every project.

Passionate about both client work and his own art, Aidan is always exploring new tools and creative techniques. He has especially enjoyed collaborating with Dr. Earle on a wide range of projects, bringing innovative design solutions to complex challenges.
